Gameplay

The player splits the time spend in game in two : in a tactical starship and on the battlefield. While in the starship, the player will be able to navigate on a starmap, having to make choices about the missions to execute and will be able to manage the soldiers by changing their gear (weapons and armors) and assigning them to the dropship. The player can also tangle with vehicles/aricrafts settings (primary and secondary weapons) and can assign crew/pilots to them. The player will have to read messages available in a comm room to follow the plot; also, he will have acces to a vast enciclopedia which covers the history of all known universe. On planets docks, the player will be able to replace the soldiers and equipment. Soldiers will join the player squad if the player has enough honor points; equipment can be bought with money. The universe is dynamic, thus depending the way of play, better weapons and vehicles are available in the docks. On the battlefield, the player can gain honor points, decorations (given in exceptionally situations), money and spare parts (to repair the damaged vehicles), but he can also alter the universe, the next missions appearing depending the way the current mission was played.

System requirements

Pure Power requires Windows 95 or Windows 98, an Intel compatible 200Mhz processor (333 recommended), 32MB of RAM (64MB recommended) and 2MB of video RAM (4MB recommended).

The engine

A
16bit 2D bitmap engine, but with several enhancements like heights, huge buildings (cold masks are available for editing), water crossable by hover vehicles, realistic trajectories for projectiles. As stated before, the engine is portable and is possible to have Solaris or Linux versions of the game. Also, because of the portability issue, there is support for loading a lot of graphic and sound formats, including BMP, IFF, PCX, SGI, WAV, VOC and AU.
